Founded in Great Sutton Street Clerkenwell in 1998, Marsden Woo began as Barrett Marsden Gallery and became Marsden Woo Gallery in 2009.
For over 20 years the gallery’s rich and diverse programme comprised an uninterrupted series of solo and group exhibitions from a stable of internationally recognised gallery artists, talented newcomers and invited guests, alongside a changing display of representative works by key associates. Collaborators were also invited to write texts, guest curate, participate in artist talks and produce publications associated with the broader exhibition programme. Later gallery locations included a space at Charlotte Road Shoreditch and Ebury Street Belgravia, where our private showroom is now based.
From 2010-2014 Tessa Peters curated the Marsden Woo Project Space, a second gallery located in the basement of our Clerkenwell premises, exhibiting work by emerging talent as well as new directions in the practice of established artists.
All photography by long-term Marsden Woo collaborator Philip Sayer.
